![]() ![]() ![]() Writing this book took a hundred years longer and was a thousand times harder than I thought it would be. I hope they act as a mirror and inspire personal reflection so you can see the immense value of the friends you have been gifted. My hope is that through these stories you may see your own. I share with you my personal stories of friendships through love and murder, laughter and turmoil, homelessness and hope, brotherhood and brawls, wisdom and redemption and the greatest treasures known to man. I wrote The Opposite of Poverty Is Friendship hoping it would do exactly what it seems to be doing: giving people a moment to pause and reflect on the blessings of their wonderful friendships, and to reach out to let friends know how much we really appreciate having them in our lives. We are blind to what is in front of us and only notice it when it's gone. Just like the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the friends we have, we take for granted the things in life that sustain us most. This is precisely why I knew I had to write it and why I'm so happy you are reading it. The biggest fans of this book now were not initially excited when I first told them I was going to write a book about friendship. Friends are God's way of taking care of us. ![]()
